Week 9 : Collaboration

Assignment: Gather user data (via survey, user group, etc.) and use this data to make an informed alteration to your design. What feedback did you get from users? How do users responses meet or challenge your expectations? What steps could you take to improve your design?

This week, I developed a user survey to get feedback on the light timer, and different situations it was being used in. I surveyed around 10 people, some engineers, some designers and even mothers. Some of the results analyzed were the following:

  • Wood as a material is very preferred to both focus and relax in home and office environments.
  • Users wanted the ability to change their own colors in the light timer.
  • Some unforeseen examples of situations where a light timer can be used arose such as - office stand up meetings, meditation, Skype calls and so forth.
  • Some users said it would also be nice to set the colors to be bright or subtle depending on the mood.
  • The average price survey participants were willing to pay for the timer ranged from 20-40$.
