I divided the metrics to be tested into 4 different categories:
- Structure
- Lighting
- Functionality
- Aesthetic
The results of these performance tests were:
- Setting Time: Having a base with no buttons makes it more user-friendly rather than pressing a lot of buttons.
- Reading Time: It's difficult to read time in stacks of 3. The alternative is to provide any number of stacks to the user, which reduces user friendliness. Therefore, the conclusion was to shift to a circular model instead.
- Time Representation: How do I make the design embody the properties of time itself? Since we are mostly used to reading time in a circular fashion, this was another factor in shifting to a circular model.
- Material: Continue using wood but have a transcluscent acrylic for the light to come through.
- Strength: Make the circle strong enough to stand by itself with no stand or a hidden stand.
- Brightness & Color: Next step is to provide the user with an option to set their own brightness and color, since the present model doesn't satisfy this criteria.
